Twilight’s Story
Chapter 4  

As Twilight entered the den, she saw her mother and father talking about Firestorm.  Luna said, “Did you really have to be so harsh with him, Shadow?  What if Twilight was right?  He could have spotted the doe first.”  

“Either way Luna, he trespassed into our territory.  I have a right to get upset.  There have been so many dangers in all of the land with the other packs.  He must pay the consequences for trespassing.”  Replied Shadow.  

  Twilight padded to her parents and said, “Hello mother, hello father.  I saw Firestorm earlier and he had this look in his eyes as if he was upset.  Not upset about being held captive but like he might be hiding a secret from us.”  

Shadow had a curious look on his face as well as a mix of anger.  “If he does have a secret, we’ll find out what it is,” said Shadow and the family of wolves fell asleep while Firestorm froze outside.  

Several hours later, Twilight walked out to see Firestorm.  “Hi.....It’s a cold night tonight.....I brought something to keep you warm,” said Twilight pulling out the skin of the doe they had caught earlier.  Firestorm looked down as he shivered.  “W-why do y-you even c-c-care about me?”  Asked Firestorm in a shivery voice.  

“I admit you did wrong, but you’re still a wolf like the rest of us.  Besides, it would be cruel to sleep in a warm den and watch you freeze out here,” replied Twilight putting the doe skin on Firestorm, which he slowly stopped shivering and said, “Thanks.”  

“Good night,” said Twilight as she went back into her den and fell asleep with her parents.  

Soon, in the morning, all the pack members gathered around Firestorm waiting for their leader.  Then, Shadow came out of the den with Luna and Twilight.  Shadow walked up to him   “Alright, Firestorm.  You have some explaining to do.  What were you doing trespassing on our territory?  Why couldn’t you hunt on your own pack’s territory?”  Asked Firestorm with an angry face.  Firestorm brought his head down and began to cry.  “Well?!  ANSWER ME!”  Growled Shadow.  

“I don’t have a pack,” replied Firestorm with a quiet voice and still had his head facing the ground.  

“Why?”  Asked Scar.  

“I....I’ve been alone my whole life.  I was just fending for myself.....My whole family just abandoned me when I was very young without explaining why......I never knew my family.....I was...just born to be alone.  No one has ever cared for me.  Whenever I meet someone, they just treat me like crap.....You guys are just a repetition of the crap I have to suffer,” replied Firestorm quietly with tears flowing from his eyes.  

Suddenly, everything was still.  All the pack members were shocked from what they just heard and, they immediately felt sorry for Firestorm.  Shadow still had a neutral expression.  Luna walked over to Firestorm.  She licked his ear and said, “How sad?  You must feel horrible but you should understand that it probably wasn’t your fault your family left you.  Maybe they had to in order to save you.”  

Firestorm still looked at the ground.  He silently said, “Thank you.”  

Twilight felt pity for Firestorm.  He’d been through so much and her father was making him feel even worse.  She limped over to him, her paw still broken from the incident the day before, and stood her ground between him and her father.  “Wait, father.  Please.  Can’t you see that he’s been through enough?  You’re only making him feel worse,” said Twilight.  

Shadow stared at her for a long time before he finally said, “Alright Twilight.  I’ll leave him be.  He’s free to stay with us and be a pack member or he can leave and never be able to step foot again in ths territory.”  He looked at Firestorm and asked, “What is your choice?”
