Twilight’s Story
Chapter 2

It was a two days after Twilight’s horrifying nightmare.  She decided not to tell anybody about it and hoped it was just a nightmare and not a glimpse of the future.  She paced around the camp desperately thinking of what she could do and how she could help out more for her pack.  Winter was just around the corner and it was only October.  Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice call from behind her, “Hey Twilight.  You wanna go hunting with me?  We need to store up more food for the winter to come.”

“Oh, hello Scar.  Sure, I’ll come and why do we need to store food for the winter?  We’re not squirrels,” said Twilight.  

“Ok, well, we don’t actually store food, we bury what we don’t finished from the prey we catch. Now come on,” said Scar.  

The two wolves padded off into the woods.  After a few minutes, Scar’s ears twitched and he said, “Shhhh.  You smell that?  It’s a fox,” whispered Scar.  

Twilight crouched down and whispered back, “Do we hunt foxes, Scar?”  

“No!  Only when there is nothing else to hunt.”  Scar whispered back.  

“Hey.  I smell deer,” whispered Twilight as she jumped up in excitement.  

“Very good.  Now, from what I can see, the deer is a doe and is quite small.  Do you think you can bring it down Twilight?”  Asked Scar as he nudged Twilight’s side.  

“Of course I can!  I may be small and young but I certainly can take down a doe.”  Said Twilight with a hint of pride in her voice.  

“Then go.  Just watch your back and if you need help, just call for me.  I’ll be right over here,” said Scar as he padded over toward some shrubs.  

Twilight jumped off the rocks she stood on  and quietly and silently crept over towards the doe.  The doe lifted her head as she heard Twilight accidentally step on a twig that snapped.  The doe backed up a bit, fear blazing in her light brown eyes.  Twilight gave a low but loud growl and stepped out of the bushes and shrubs.  The doe ran off away from the wolf.  Claws out, Twilight jumped onto the doe’s back.  Little streams of blood flowed from the deer’s back, slowing it down.  Still hanging on, Twilight clawed her way up to the doe’s neck.  Once she got up to the neck, Twilight bit down hard.  She felt the hot red blood on her teeth and could sense the deer’s energy drain.  Suddenly, Twilight saw a red figure jump out of the trees, and onto the deer.  The three tumbled to the ground and eventually came to a stop.  

When the dust cleared, the doe lay on the earthy ground, dead.  Twilight landed next to the deer and her left front paw was under the doe’s lifeless body.  She couldn’t feel it and every time she tried to move it, it hurt really bad and Twilight thought, That can’t be good.  The red figure that had jumped at her was standing high above them.  It was a red wolf with black hair and a black tipped tail.  He had piercing red eyes.  He had his paw on the doe’s side as if claiming it for his own.  “Is he claiming MY catch as HIS own?  What pack is he from?  The Firepack?  What would he be doing all the way out here?  And in Shadowpack territoy too,”  thought Twilight.  “Hey!  Get your filthy paw off my catch!  I caught fair and scare!”  Barked Twilight.  She was still laying on the ground and trying to get up to face the wolf.  

The red wolf gave a small chuckle and almost dug his teeth into the doe’s side.  Suddenly, Scar jumped out of the bushes and trees, slamming into the red wolves side.  Then, they both got up and started to circle one another.
